YOUNG MP’s COMES TOGETHER FOR THE YOUTH CAUSE IN ALBANIA

Tirana, 12. 04. 2018 - The young MP’s of all political groups in the Albanian Parliament, for more than six months, have worked together and agreed to establish the Alliance of Young MP’s (AYMP). AYMP is supported by CRCA Albania and the Albanian National Youth Network (ANYN).

Since the representation of young people is increased significantly in the Albanian Parliament, with 14 young MP’s under the age of 35, this should reflect the improvement of the quality and other aspects of young people life throughout the country. The Alliance of Young MP’s will be an informal group of young MP’s in the Albanian Parliament, where together under this group, regardless their different political affiliations, they will represent and advocate to solve the problems of young people throughout Albania.

The Alliance of Young MP’s will aim the empowering of new MP’s; advocacy to address youth issues throughout Albania; promoting the establishement of national youth policies and programs; strengthening government accountability, and supporting and empowering the youth movement in Albania. Also, the Alliance of Young MP’s will be committed to adopt in Parliament the first “Youth Resolution" deposited by the Albanian National Youth Network on December 15, 2016.

AYMP will aim to create a supportive climate for youth issues from the Albanian Assembly and through joint actions will affect the improvement and drafting of national and local policies favoring young people, who would consequently lead to improved life and their empowerment.

The idea and the need for the establishement of this Alliance was addressed and discussed for the first time by ANYN and CRCA Albania at the 1^st Hearing Session for Youth in the Albanian Assembly, with the Subcommittee on Juvenile Affairs, Gender Equality, Domestic Violence, on December 15, 2016. Throughout this session, CRCA and ANYN addressed concerns to the present deputies, the absence of a commission, sub committee, or a supporting structure for young people in the Albanian Parliament.

This Alliance will be established based on the success models of the "Friends of Children" Parliamentary Group, supported by the Children's Human Rights Center in Albania - CRCA and the Albanian National Network Youth Network - ANYN.
