
Skopje, 22 September 2018 – The Albanian National Youth Network (ANYN) and the Child Right’s Centre Albania (CRCA) participated at the High-level Dialogue on youth political participation and youth policy with parliamentarians from the European Parliament and the Western Balkans.
The Dialogue took place in Skopje, Macedonia and it included MEPs Eduard Kukan and Knut Fleckenstein from the European Parliament as well as representatives of parliaments and youth organizations from 6 Western Balkan countries. Youth participation in politics, youth employment; Youth Employment, Enterprise and Brain Drain; Fake news and disinformation and Reconciliation and Legacies of the Past are the themes that the discussion sessions were focused.
In their meetings with the MEPs Eduard Kukan and Knut Fleckenstein, representatives of ANYN and CRCA expressed their concerns on the situation of young people in Albania. MEPs were introduced to the latest CRCA / ANYN Report "Youth in Albania", which reflects in detail the situation of young people in the country. They asked the MEPs to continue their commitment to support improve youth policies, participation in public life, inclusion of youth in the policy-making process, decision-making in Albania.
The meeting on "Bridging the gap" lasted for two days and discussed the creation of a non -conflictual space, to help participants think in a collaborative way and to "disrupt" the more traditional discourse based on presentations of experts and officials for a public, and the spread of expert-level discussions and officials in the Western Balkan countries.
