National Youth Political Forums jointly with more than 20 major CSOs across Albania signed the National Youth Contract, a national document that sets priorities for youth policy for the next four years.
Tirana, 6 June 2017– This morning, all youth political forums and more than 20 civil society organizations from all over Albania, supported by the Albanian National Youth Network, working for youth in 12 regions of Albania, presented and signed in a special ceremony the National Youth Contract, a document aimed at promoting youth issues during the 2017 Parliamentary Elections. On June 23 Albania holds its regular parliamentary elections and youth have come together under the logo of the Albanian National Youth Network (ANYN) to promote new priorities for youth for the next four years.
National Youth Contract is an initiative lead by the Albanian National Youth Network in cooperation with CRCA Albania and Albanian Coalition for Child Education - ACCE.
The National Youth Contract is a document that contains the most priority issues and needs of youth in the country, such as: (a) Increase of Youth participation and representation in decision making; (b) Youth employment and support for youth enterprises; (c) A National Youth Card; (d) Qualitative and professional education for Young People in Albania; (e) Establishment of Youth centers and safe youth spaces; (f) Promotion of Vvoluntarism; (g) Empowerment of youth and their movement in Albania; (h) Social interaction and health among young people.
The political youth forums through the signing of the National Youth Contract committed to promote to the political parties where they adhere asking them to address these priority issues of the young people, and in particular to increase youth participation and representation in the Parliament starting from the 2017 Parliamentary Elections and following with the upcoming local elections.
Bringing together all the Youth Political Forums is historic for youth in Albania, especially because often party divisions and conflicts impact the joint work among youth. However due to the long working relationship and their membership to the Albanian National Youth Network the leadership of the youth forums have started to build joint actions that promote and empower youth at national and local level. One of such documents is the National Contract for Youth in Albania.
Albanian National Youth Network, together with the civil society organizations throughout the country and political youth forums, since the launching of the new parliamentary year in September, will advocate and monitor the implementation of the National Youth Contract by political parties, future Government and Assembly. Also, through the National Youth Contract, civil society organizations will ask the coming Parliament to approve the Youth Resolution deposited in the Assembly by the Albanian National Youth Network, on December 15th 2016.
